4 weeks have passed since I began using my reorganized LR catalog and system and I have received a ton of emails asking questions and how it is going to date. I appreciate the questions and thought I would do a final blog post on this as a wrap up to try and answer the questions as most of them asking is it working as I intended. The answer to that is yes. My whole intent was to not only become more organized, but be mobile with my LR library. You can read part one and part two to see how I set things up and the file structure I use.
To date the process has been smooth, fast and efficient. With just a one click, I update my primary to my backup and then the rest is on auto pilot for the cloud backup. Being able to take my entire photo library with me when I travel knowing that with just one click I will have 2 duplicate copies is peace of mind. The best part is being able to find the images without searching for 10, 15 or 20 minutes.
Streamlining this system is the best thing that I have done and I wish I had the foresight to do this right from the start. It would have saved me a lot of wasted time for sure and that is what drove me to document this process in the hope that someone, even just one person would find this helpful and benefit from it moving forward.
