We are fortunate here in the Midwest to have one of the greatest collection of Americana items anywhere located at the The Henry Ford Museum. Items from the early 1700’s to current day are all to be found in the the museum.
The entire museum can take over three hours to tour and see all the exhibits. There truly is something for everyone inside the museum. I will be the first to admit that I like planes, trains and automobiles (paying homage to the movie of the same name) and each of those are represented in grand fashion.
Each exhibit tells the story of a slice in history. Given that this was the brain child of Henry Ford, it leans toward the automotive sides of things and that was my focus on this particular visit. Rare automobiles from the earliest modes of transportation to the iconic vehicles that have shaped the American love affair with the automobile are featured.
If you are into history and have a chance to visit the Midwest, The Henry Ford is a wonderful family oriented attraction that is sure to have something for everyone where the older folks can reminisce and the younger generation can learn about days gone bye through history and Americana.
