Nikon slowly discontinuing DX lenses

In General Stuff by Patrick

It appears as if Nikon is slowly phasing out their DX cropped sensor cameras and lenses. Check any reputable site for Nikon like NikonRumors and you will see that for DX sensor bodies there are only about six lenses that they have not discontinued or archived. Here is the list to date:

  • AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 40mm f/2.8G
  • AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G
  • AF-S DX Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR
  • AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
  • AF-P DX Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR
  • AF-P DX Nikkor 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR
  •

As Nikon puts more of their efforts into the mirrorless systems, the consumer with the DX body is going to be forced to make a choice of keeping their DX glass without options of upgrading them or switch to a mirrorless system which Nikon is banking is the future for their success.
