Nikon just announced their latest mirror-less telephoto lens that has been rumored to be in the works for some time according to their timeline. The NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S is going to be upwards of $14,000 once available to the public. Boasting some impressive optical performance, the price tag is on par with it’s competitors Canon and Sony who both have lenses like this ranging in the same price point. The interesting thing about this lens is the teleconverter functionality. Sporting a 1.4 built in teleconverter increasing its focal length to 560mm while remaining at f/2.8. Taking this a step further if your full frame camera has the ability to shoot in DX cropped mode, that adds an additional 1.4 to the focal length in essence giving you 764mm reach while remaining at f/2.8. Quite alluring but this is not for the average shooter given its price point. This will surely be a very sought after lens by working professionals. More spec on this can be found on Nikon website.
