The forever wish list

In General Stuff by Patrick

I don’t know a photographer that doesn’t like new gear.  Camera bodies, lenses, accessories you name it.  Nikon just announced the development, which usually means in layman’ terms, that a production version is already being tested and has been built, of the the NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens.  This is the ultimate in super-telephoto.   According to Nikon:

The NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S is an S-Line lens, delivering powerful rendering with outstanding resolution while thoroughly reducing color bleeding. By adopting a PF (Phase Fresnel) element that enables a compact and lightweight body, it is highly portable despite being a super-telephoto lens. With its high rendering performance and superb mobility, this lens will be an excellent choice for many types of photographers ranging from advanced amateurs to professionals.

This lens will be compatible with the entire Z (Zed) series line of cameras.  Based on the recently released NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lens which comes in at a whopping $14,000 USD, I am speculating that this monster will come in around $18,000 or $19,000 USD.   Expect more to come on the specs of this lens as they become available.  Given the astronomical price tags of this lens, it is not for everyone and will be cons prohibitive for most, myself included so this will have to be on the forever wish list.
